‘Getting The Best Out of You and Your Bike...’

Paul is a DSA Certified Motorcycling Instructor (CMI) and a Grade 5 DSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). He teaches motorcycling and driving on a full time basis. At the beginning of 2009 he had reached somewhere in the region of 30,000 hours teaching experience. Paul is the qualified Supervising Instructor for In-Gear and he holds a BTEC teaching award for rider training from standard to advanced levels. These qualifications ensure quality for your CBT, Direct Access and Advanced courses. All these skills are directly transferable to driving courses.

For riders looking to take further training beyond Direct Access you can be assured that Paul has all the right credentials for this type of riding and training too. Paul is a member of the Driving Standards Agency Register of Post Test Motorcycle Trainers, known as the RPMT. More information about this register can be found on the DSA web site. The register is there to ensure that riders with a full motorcycle licence are guaranteed a proven quality of coaching set to specific national standards. In a recent Check Test assessment that Paul had to take as part of his ongoing RPMT registration with the DSA, he achieved the top grade in every single category.

Additionally he holds a qualification as a Diamond Advanced Motorcycling Instructor and Examiner, training and assessing riders for the Diamond Advanced Riding Test. If you would like to know more about this please go here, In-Gear Instructor Riding Standards and here Diamond Advanced Test

What does all this mean for you?

Well, it’s your assurance of quality that you are getting qualified and excellent coaching that matches your needs as an individual. It’s not possible to gain these particular qualifications without having proved that the high standards are delivered to riders. A process of practical and written assessments by the examining bodies is the only way to gain the qualifications.

These qualifications are your guarantee that the standards have been achieved. Additionally, during your Direct Access and / or post test training course you can receive video feedback as part of your skills development. Paul has a camera mounted on the bike and some of your training can be filmed if you wish. Qualifications and standards are put into place for the purpose of ensuring that riders achieve nationally recognised standards of skills and safety. If you are bamboozled in your search for a suitably qualified trainer, don’t be afraid to ask what qualifications are held by the person proposing to teach you and to prove it if necessary. Your life may depend on it.
