January 2010 sees the beginning of a new range of services offered at the Thunder Road Motorcycle Dealerships in Wales. This exciting new partnership is ready to take the world of motorcycle rider training into a whole new era. Selected as part of their portfolio of courses and events will be an Enhanced Rider Scheme Centre, along with a DIAmond Advanced Centre.

Thunder Road is one of the UK's most successful motorcycle dealerships with two sites in Wales, at Bridgend and Newport. They are main dealers for Honda and Suzuki and at any one time have around seven hundred bikes for sale. They have a full range of accessories and clothing along with every accessory imaginable for a motorcycle. Paul Dickinson is a trainer with 11 years full time coaching experience at all levels and the required qualifications to boot.

They will offer 3 core routes for riders to develop their skills to higher levels. Absolutely any rider will benefit from one or more of the courses. They are the Enhanced Rider Scheme designed by the Driving Standards Agency, The DIAmond Advanced courses for riders and potential instructors, along with Paul's own course, The Art of Riding.

Paul developed The Art of Riding course in response to his experience as a trainer in which he recognises that for many riders the thought of an 'advanced' test is just too intimidating. The Art of Riding Course enables any rider to work on 4 Key Skill Sets that Paul has identified as being at the root of all that's good, bad or indifferent. No matter what level the rider is at.

The Key Skill Sets are Vision, Anticipation, Positioning and Control. Each one is tackled separately in a whole range of different situations and the rider receives a certificate for each Skill Set achieved. A day is allowed to work on each one as a separate topic. The Art of Riding course is designed specifically to complement the ERS and DIA packages.

All riders will be encouraged by the dealership to participate in the courses and depending on their level, to complete the Enhanced Rider Scheme with all the benefits that come with it, or to take a Diamond Advanced test.

For the adventurous, some of these courses will take place abroad, as well as in Wales where it is expected to have 'working' holidays for riders. UK and Continental trips form part of the range of courses and events. This is a truly exciting time for riders to continue with their own personal goals.
